Free Minor ailments and Treatments

 

Te Whatu Ora has contracted Westbury Pharmacy to implement the Community Pharmacy Minor Ailments Service from 12 June 2023.

The minor ailments initiative is part of the Minister of Health’s 2023 Winter Plan. It looks to increase access to pharmacist consultations and reduce pressure on primary and hospital services in areas recognised as consistently and persistently experiencing system pressure from 12 June to 30 September 2023.

All children under 14, Māori and Pacifica and their whānau, and Community Service Card (CSC) holders will be able to get Free consultation and receive Free funded treatments for certain minor ailments this winter.

These conditions and Treatments that are eligible for Free consultation and treatment are:

  • Acute Diarrhoea/Vomiting/Dehydration
  • Bacterial Eye Infection
  • Eye Inflammation
  • Pain and or fever
  • Skin conditions such as scabies and Headlice
  • Eczema/Dermatitis
  • Minor Skin Infections

 

How to access this service

Patients and their families are able to walk into Westbury Pharmacy, 12 Mahara Place Waikanae and seek a consultation. No booking is necessary. This service is available 6 days per week from 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Saturday.
